50+ DIY Vinyl Projects for Your Next Home Improvement Project

These walls are clad in mustard-colored modern vinyl siding. The window sashes and arches add interest to the home. The side walls have brick siding painted the same yellow.

It uses the mixed modern vinyl siding – faux-stone at the bottoms, clapboard walls, and faux-cedar gables. I once worked with a cheeky dude who noticed that during meetings as the boss droned on, everyone would lose focus and stare at the white walls behind the boss. So he printed a sign and posted it on that blank wall.

Vinyl Record Shelf | Album Wall Mount Display

Everyone watches the clock at work, itching for home time. So this playful clock sticker can make a cheerful addition to your home office. You could even craft it into a fully functional clock and make the man a lightweight floating shadow that hangs off the minute hand as it moves. It’ll make your workday far more bearable and the time might even pass faster. If you have the kind of spouse that never remembered important dates, here’s one way to be sure they’ll never forget your anniversary. It’s a simple concept and works well in a cheerful family, because not every home can pull off this turquoise tone in their living space.

vinyl home decor ideas

But install the vinyl trees carefully to avoid forming air pockets, bumps, or ridges. Depending on h0w you clad your house, you can cut down expenses. This might mean settling for accents if your choice of siding is particularly expensive.

Wondrous Windows

A safer option is to make a vinyl stencil and mount it above their headboard. This one is black adhesive vinyl and stuck on a white wall. But if your child gets nightmares, you could use holographic or neon vinyl that glows to offer comfort in the dark.

vinyl home decor ideas

St Mary’s (that’s the name of this church) looks just as grand in plastic. But it’s the accessories and styling that distinguish modern vinyl siding. This home has vertical vinyl siding interspersed with mirrored windows. These windows are vertically elongated so they heighten the effect of the vertical vinyl.

We Don't Do Average, We Do Awesome Office Wall Decal, Classroom Decor, Locker Room Decor, Meeting Room Decor, Great Gift Idea

Linear elements play an important role in this modern vinyl siding. And from a distance, those clapboards and battens can look like stripes. Mixing these ‘vinyl stripes’ can give remarkable results. In this home, plastic planks are joined using crossbars to make authentic-looking faux wood shutters.

vinyl home decor ideas

Here, the lower wall is stone while the upper wall is traditional lap vinyl. Separate wooden staircases lead to the front door and the rear deck with its picket fence. In the past, the only way to decorate a wall was to paint it.

You can hang them as wall art or turn them into clocks. There’s something soothing about coils and curls. And everyone knows the comfort of a good couch. So when you’re lounging on a lazy Sunday or napping after a hectic day, butterflies and musical notes are both calming and refreshing. And it’s a simple form of vinyl wall decorating.

The typical style of painting wall interiors is to use a lighter color on the wall itself then accent it with painting, posters, or family portraits. But if you have a bolder sense of style, you may want a darker, more solid color, whether it’s an accent wall or an entire room. You can then use vinyl wall decorating silhouettes like this white ‘tree shadow’ on an orange wall. In movies and music studios, you’ll see platinum records and plaques mounted on the walls. It’s a trophy and a form of industry cred, like a doctor or lawyer displaying their diplomas on the wall. So if you enjoy vinyl records but you don’t want to trash them, you can stick them stylishly on the wall.

Brick, Wood, and Vinyl

This siding is horizontal, and certain sections of the house have faux-cedar shakes in the same grey hue. One of the coolest tricks in décor is to mix the old with the new. Lighting fixtures are especially good for this. The electric bulb is modern, but the shape, grill, and styling are colonial.

vinyl home decor ideas

From handmade pieces to vintage treasures ready to be loved again, Etsy is the global marketplace for unique and creative goods. It’s also home to a whole host of one-of-a-kind items made with love and extraordinary care. While many of the items on Etsy are handmade, you’ll also find craft supplies, digital items, and more.

But what if you want that traditional look …with conveniently modern materials? This house – for example – is clad entirely in plastic! That modern vinyl siding is faux stone + vertical vinyl. White is an interesting color in the construction space.

You can use real vinyl records of adhesive vinyl cut into record shapes. Do you have a friend, a child, or someone else you know who likes the biking or the outdoors in general? Use this removable wall sticker to decorate your home, office, classroom, or wherever else you might want to give a shout out to cycling. Your lease might not allow you to paint your was, but even the strictest landlord is okay with vinyl wall decorating. And if you can’t come up with the right pithy phrases, there are thousands of ideas you can download online.

So traditional vinyl is largely horizontal and whitewashed. But modern vinyl siding plays with a vast melting pot of concepts and designs. This house uses vertical siding, but it’s white and has ultra-thin battens that set off the black window trim.

The simplest vinyl wall decorating idea can be made on a small, portable vinyl cutter like the Cricut Joy. It prints and cuts mini pieces of 5 inches or less, so you can make geometric shapes like circles and squares or even hearts and parabolas. Pick any color you like and stick the vinyl dots on a plain wall to form a pattern of your choice. Looking for a unique and creative way to decorate your home, office, school classroom, or other venue? Break up the mundane and simple with a design that pops. So glow-in-the-dark stars are commonly mounted on the ceiling to serve as a night light.

SA has a population of 1.67 million people in June 2013, with the majority of its people reside in Adelaide, the state capital.

It’s a modest sized dwelling, often the case in prefab cabins, but the open plan of the living areas, along with the generous ceiling height makes it highly efficient and extremely comfortable. Full-height double glazed doors open out to the north-facing deck and so the interior also receives plenty of natural light. But it’s the warm plywood-lined walls that make this project so memorable, providing a perfectly neutral background for the client’s stylishly Scandinavian, modernist-inspired aesthetic. The benefits of prefabrication have become increasingly recognised within Australia’s residential sector and, as an industry, it’s burgeoning. At a micro level, prefab homes are an affordable building option for clients mindful of budget. However, at the macro level, many believe it has a role to play in alleviating societal housing crises.

The Longest Home Runs Ever Hit HowStuffWorks

It took a Stanton-ian combination of a 115.8-mph exit velocity and a very low 18-degree launch angle for Stanton to reach that part of the park. A lot of these homers reached the upper decks and some even left the ballpark completely. If the home run is the most exciting play in baseball, than here are the most awesome. Two years to the day after his MLB debut – on April 17, 1953 – future Hall of Famer Mickey Mantle hit one of the furthest recorded home runs in history. It was that day when the term “tape-measure home run” was born, as one of the game’s best power hitters hit a colossal 565-foot shot out of Griffith Stadium. Entering the 1970s, Reggie Jackson was already established as one of the best ever.

longest home run hit this year

The A’s McGwire hit the ball so hard off of Cleveland’s Orel Hershiser that it caused the veteran pitcher to mouth the word “wow” as the ball sailed into the left field bleachers. Though this home run is impressive, it pales in comparison to the one later in this list, an absolute blast against future Hall of Famer Randy Johnson. This article appeared in The Home Run Encyclopedia and is sole property of the author.

C.J. Cron, Colorado Rockies: 504 feet

Juan Soto was one of several Derby participants to hit at least one 500-foot bomb during last year's event at Coors Field. Regardless of circumstance, Soto smashed this ball into the atmosphere, and as a result he currently holds the record for the longest home run during the Home Run Derby as measured by Statcast. Sammy Sosa at the height of his powers, taking cut after cut at fastballs down the middle? Sosa's 2002 Home Run Derby performance is legendary and perhaps even more so because he ended up losing to Jason Giambi. Sosa's pièce de résistance in Milwaukee that year was a bomb that literally left the building and ESPN measured it at 524 feet.

Glenallen Hill was playing for the Cubs when he smashed a monstrous home run out of the park against the Milwaukee Brewers. It went so far as to land across the street, on the rooftops of the homes behind the left field fence. One of the longest home runs in Wrigley Field history came from a guy who had 11 that season at age 33, and who, throughout his career, was an average hitting outfielder.

The longest homers measured since 2015

It happened in the midst of a loss to the Phils on May 17th, a game where he hit a pair of home runs. Kingman’s second was a monstrous blast that found its way three houses deep on Waveland Avenue, before taking off down the street. Even more might say that this home run barely cracks Ruth’s top three longest shots. There will always be plenty of speculation surrounding the validity of reported distances of home runs hit such a long time ago. Babe Ruth smacked a 575-foot home run off of Tigers pitcher Bert Cole. This was before Navin Field added an upper-deck , so the ball landed outside of the park near the intersection of Trumbull and Cherry.

Mazara tops the list, but in seven seasons Statcast has measured a plethora of neck-craning shots that have to be seen to be believed. Here are the longest homers Statcast has tracked since Opening Day of the 2015 season. The Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati isn’t a classic hitter’s field, statistically at least, but Adam Dunn sure tamed it. The Big Donkey, as he is known, hit 270 home runs for his original club, and none longer than the deep, deep bomb he drilled off a high Jose Lima fast ball in 2004. He could just have easily struck out, given his penchant for swinging freely, but the gamble paid off in a big way. One big advantage of being a slugger for the Colorado Rockies are the friendly confines — and thin air — of Coors Field.

Byron Buxton, Minnesota Twins: 469 feet

Below, we’ll look at some of the longest home runs hit in MLB history, both documented and rumored. There is no specific data on the farthest home run in the the Home Run Derby pre-StatCast era. Let’s dive into the best moonshots in MLB history and the longest home run ever. Mantle’s famous baseball was actually stolen from its display case in the Yankee Stadium by a group of boys who regretted the theft and returned it. Before Strawberry broke the record, the previous longest Olympic Stadium Home Run was made by Willie Stargell at 475 feet. "That just shows what kind of fun we're having here, what kind of group we have here," Judge said.

Both the baseball and bat used to set this record were put on display in the Yankee Stadium. Correa's long ball provided one of the few bright spots on a dismal night for the visiting Astros, who accepted a 16-6 defeat in the Bronx. The infielder's missile to center field off Michael Pineda came off the bat at 113.5 mph, part of a 4-for-5, two-homer performance. The slugging infielder cleared Monument Park with a bomb off CC Sabathia, striking the awning over the center-field restaurant. Despite Machado's tape-measure blast, the Yanks rallied for a 14-11, 10-inning win in a game they had once trailed by eight runs. Not just another legendary Yankee on this list but another legendary home run-hitter, Mantle was known during his time as a hitter that had hit serious long-distance shots.

After Ruth and Foxx, Mantle ranks as high as or higher than anyone else who ever tried to hit a baseball to faroff places. The decade of the fifties was particularly blessed with the presence of many great sluggers, who should be mentioned in any discussion of long hitters. The list includes Larry Doby, Joe Adcock, Eddie Mathews, Henry Aaron, Willie Mays, and Frank Robinson. Perhaps the longest of those not previously mentioned was Ralph Kiner, who bombarded all the National League left-field distance plateaus of his times. A man who will show up again on our list, not only did Mark McGwire break Roger Maris’ home run record, he was really smacking the ball out of the park. One of his biggest and farthest home runs came in an early season trip to Jacob’s Field on April 30th of 1997.

This memorable blow was knocked down at a linear distance of approximately 415 feet and an altitude of 85 feet. Almost all of the players on the field, and everyone in the home-plate area, including the press box, swore that the ball was still ascending when it hit the roof. And, as was the case with Mantle, Allen was one of the few men in the entire history of the game who possessed legitimate 500-foot-plus power. His 1974 blast certainly traveled over 500 feet, but just as certainly it was not rising when it was forced to as sudden stop. Such a batted ball would require literally superhuman velocity, which would render the batsman capable of authoring 700 foot home runs.

Mark McGwire, 523 Feet

The next truly great slugger in the chronology of long-distance hitting was Ted Williams, who arrived on the major league scene in 1939. His slender physique belied his subtle strength and natural ability to generate bat speed. On May 4 of that year, Williams cleared the towering right-field grandstand in Detroit and served notice that he was as powerful as he was refined with a bat in his hands.

Check the home run lengths of all seventy Mark McGwire blasts and all sixty-six Sammy Sosa's shots in the fabulous feats section. Acuña tore his ACL later that season and was unable to take the field during the Braves’ World Series run. He has returned to All-Star form this season, becoming the NL’s leading vote-getter for the Midsummer Classic and earning a slot in his second MLB Home Run Derby. Not only did Schwarber get 473 feet of distance on his longest home run – he also got four RBIs. Here are the deepest home runs hit from the 2021 MLB season, with videos from MLB.com.

The ball cleared the wide breadth of Grand Boulevard and landed on the sidewalk approximately 470 feet from home plate. That was the start of modern long-distance hitting, and it is a testimony to Ruth's uniqueness that he was able to set objective standards of performance that have never been surpassed. This blast, the second on the list from Dunn, makes his first look like a chip shot and this time he may have used the driver. On August 10th of the 2004 season, Dunn connected on one of his 46 on the season and put himself in the top 3 for farthest dingers.

Three came from left-handed hitters and two came for the same right-handed hitter. The launch angle looked so pretty that I had to look it up — this one had a trajectory of 33 degrees. Barry Bonds holds the Major League Baseball home run record with 762. He passed Hank Aaron, who is currently second with 755, on August 7, 2007.

Longest homer for every 2022 MLB Home Run Derby participant

This particular blast came late in the 2008 season, after his trade from the Cincinnati Reds to the Arizona Diamondbacks. He belted a shot to center field off of pitcher Glendon Rusch, of the Colorado Rockies. Dunn was one of the premier home run hitters during his 15-year career that lasted from 2001 to 2014. He has eight opening day home runs, which ties him with Hall of Famers Frank Robinson and one of the best home run hitters in baseball history, Ken Griffey Jr. He finished his career with 462 home runs, putting him tied with Jose Canseco for 37th on baseball’s all-time career list. Affectionately known to Red Sox fans as Big Papi, Ortiz unloaded on many a hapless pitcher, sending home runs rocketing past Pesky’s pole at Fenway.

"The first one I hit barely went over the fence, so everybody on the other team was yelling cheapie and all that," Meyer said. Ronald Acuna Jr., Pete Alonso, Albert Pujols, Jose Ramirez, Julio Rodriguez, Kyle Schwarber, Corey Seager and Juan Soto combined to hit 291 long balls in the 2022 MLB Home Run Derby. It’s interesting because I don’t remember seeing a left-handed hitter slug a baseball to this part of Coors Field before 2022. As we’ll see with the two people immediately below Yelich, this was one of three homers to visit that general area in the Mile High City. Cron has quietly had consecutive seasons of solid offensive production with the Rockies. He’s compiled just 3.6 fWAR since the start of 2021, but it’s also included two straight years of at least 25 homers and 90 RBI. The 2022 season is notable because it’s the first time the right-handed hitter surpassed the 100-RBI plateau.

"We've meshed well ever since Spring Training. It's been a fun year all around. You see it in our play on the field, off the field, we're just having fun and playing our game." The media descended on Mile High the next day -- wanting to talk to the man who reached heights never reached before. You get the feeling Meyer, modest and soft-spoken over the phone, was almost frightened by the attention.

Kyle Schwarber, Philadelphia Phillies: 468 feet

With the game on the line, Buxton not only won the game for Minnesota, but he did it with an exclamation point. All those potential feelings he may have had didn’t lead to much production, though. This dinger was the first hit he registered against his former club in 12 plate appearances. Sanchez ended up collecting four more hits against Yankee pitching, which led to a .636 OPS in 22 plate appearances. When discussing the four homers of 490-plus feet at Coors Field this year, the one slugged by Jesus Sanchez was the first. Sanchez nearly flew out of his shoes while getting the barrel through the hitting zone.

He wasn't trying to "memorialize it." He did say a University of Colorado professor called him shortly after the measurements came out and agreed with how he came up with the distance. A perfect swing, the high altitude and maybe, just maybe, the bat he used all played a role. When Meyer came up for the at-bat in question that night, he had already homered. But players on the field thought it had only gone out because of the thin Rocky Mountain air. Meyer's high school coach in Honolulu still raves about his power, saying he could come out right now and still hit homers. The first baseman was even given the Barry Bonds treatment in his school days, getting intentionally walked with the bases loaded.

Mickey Mantle, 1960, 643 Feet

Perhaps the ball had already flown over 400 feet, whereupon it was interrupted in midflight at a height of 70 feet above field level. Awed by such a demonstration of power, the writers would then describe the event for posterity as a 500-and-some-foot home run. With the guidance of our scientific brethren, we know that once a batted ball has reached its highest point and lost most of its velocity, it falls in a rapidly declining trajectory. Hyperbole has always been part of the phenomenon of long-distance home runs, and this factor must also be considered.

Though it must be said again that with no one else at that time hitting as he did, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that Ruth could belt one that far. With a mighty swing, Jackson took Pirates pitcher Dock Ellis’s throw high out to right field. So high that it hit a transformer above the seats that kept it from going further than the estimated distance of 539 feet. Sadly, this one doesn’t count toward the 563 career homers that place him 14th all-time.

Jorge Soler, Miami Marlins: 468 feet

Sure, he has the advantage of playing with increased elevation at Coors Field, but what C.J. Cron managed to do on June 17th, crushing a baseball 486 feet to left field is still impressive. Plenty of other visiting batters have the same opportunities Cron has, but he has the second-longest home run in the season thus far. Major League Baseball’s introduction of StatCast tracking makes it easier than ever to determine the farthest home runs hit travel today. But even at a time when New York Yankees star Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge are launching bombs, they do fall short of the longest HR in MLB history. Baseball is known worldwide as “the All-American sport,” and people from all around the United States flock to sports stadiums to watch their favorite teams.

longest home run hit this year

His prime years were spent as a fan favourite in Boston, where his big frame and patented swooping, uppercut type of swing produced a lot of dingers. The tater in this video caused a ripple in the giant right field Jumbotron at Shea Stadium. Meyer reared back and connected with a breaking ball from reliever Mike Murphy -- sending it deep into the Denver darkness. The ball kept going up and up until it hit halfway up the second deck of Mile High Stadium -- a place very few baseballs go. Alonso was the only other slugger to go at least 480 yards deep, hitting a homer that exact distance. The New York Mets first baseman also had the event's third-longest homer of 479 feet.

Jackson went on to make a name for himself as a postseason darling and one of the most clutch players of all-time. This blast did nothing but help him earn worldwide recognition all the more sooner. Aaron Doster-USA TODAY SportsWhile the 2022 MLB Home Run Derby offered fans a chance to watch the best power hitters in baseball, history was made in the minor leagues. Arizona Diamondbacks prospect Leandro Cedeno pulverized a baseball on July 15, blasting it over the fence for a 527-foot moonshot. And since baseball experts haven’t challenged this scientist’s claim, the projected mark still stands in the record books to this day.

But everything came together on June 21, 2018 when Mazara sent a Reynaldo Lopez fastball towering into the bleachers. While this one ranks among the biggest blasts in the history books, this homer was one of the few bright spots in Vaughn’s career after leaving the Angels, to join the Mets in 2002. This clout to the left-center concourse at Yankee Stadium, Judge's 52nd homer of the season, inspired "M-V-P" chants from the Bronx faithful. It was also Judge's 33rd homer that year at the House That Ruth Built, eclipsing the franchise record set by the Bambino himself back in 1921.

Dick Allen, too, played in both leagues, thereby providing himself the advantage of leaving his signature on more ballparks than those who only played in one league. Allen could not hit with the same power in those directions as when he pulled the ball, but he seems to have lost less distance than almost anyone else when hitting to the opposite field. Directly behind Allen in the historic ranking of tape measure hitters were contemporaries Willie Stargell and Willie McCovey.

longest home run hit this year

The distances of the following home runs, however, are for one reason or another unable to be confirmed. However, in the absence of verifiable proof for those other stories, many baseball historians would rate Ruth’s 1921 homer as the closest to a sure thing. If a slugger like Jorge Soler signs with the Colorado Rockies, we’ve seen him crush baseballs out of the yard.

C.J. Cron, Colorado Rockies: 504 feet

While his career was on the decline with the Mets in 2002, Mo still provided the faithful with a blast from the past at Shea in their June 26th matchup with Atlanta. His moonshot was an estimated 505 feet, one of his 26 on the season upon his return from missing the previous year due to injury. It would be the last big blast we would see from Mo, but boy was she a rocket. Baseball has always been a sport that has been played with elements of speed and power.

He added another dinger of 460-plus feet on September 16th against Adrian Martinez of the Oakland Athletics. The one thing we can be sure of, though, is it went as high as it did far. This moonshot doesn’t just earn the honors of being the longest home run of the 2022 season.
